The Treasure Hunt

Dear Dernier Friends,

Boy do we have a wonderful, growing list of Christian fiction for you to give the children on your heart! What a privilege it is for us to offer these books to you, and hear your reviews, of how they have been enjoyed and changed hearts and lives.

Every single book you give away is investing in your children’s future as well as giving enjoyment today.

The Treasure Mystery Series

Mystery in the Snow, sequel to The Treasure Hunt, should be with us before Christmas! Illustrator Katy Hollamby’s front cover will be featuring Debbie, Ravi, Lance and Joel in Mrs Adamson’s kitchen, trying not to smell the fish cooking for her cat, Lucy… 🙂

After that, Katy will be working on the cover of the long-awaited third book in the series: Suspicious Deliveries. Yayyy!!!! Can’t wait.

Did you enjoy The Treasure Hunt? Please do leave a review on our website, if you did – we’d love to hear from you, and it does help people choose. One gentleman who read the book felt it wasn’t good to have children doing dangerous things, and he felt the characters obeyed the letter of the law as regards their parents’ direction, rather than the spirit of it, but everyone else seems to have enjoyed the antics of Ravi, Debbie, Ryan and Lance.

The Treasure Hunt

Anti-Trafficking

The Treasure Hunt is highly recommended by the head of an anti-trafficking organisation.

So if you’re looking for a book to talk about the issue of trafficking with your children at an age appropriate level, this book is for you. It has Discussion Questions at the end, which are perfect for families to talk about together, or for teachers at Christian schools in Key Stage 2. (Do pass on this info to any Christian teachers you know.)

Angel Tree Thank You

Thank you to all of you who prayed for the delivery of books to Tim from Angel Tree a couple of weeks ago. I left at the crack of dawn to drive into central London at 6am, in order to beat the traffic and the London Congestion Charge! It was a wonderful experience, crossing Lambeth Bridge with the Thames sparkling in the early morning light and the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye watching over proceedings!

Tim had to make an early start, too, by train, and we arrived, amazingly, at exactly the same moment. Then came the unloading of the books… 500 copies of The Treasure Hunt and 300 copies of The Birthday Shoes, all destined for prisoners’ children for Christmas. (Sorry to speak about Christmas this early… although some shops already seem to have cards and decorations for sale, yikes!)

We are delighted to be sharing in this wonderful scheme, to give Christian books to prisoners’ children at Christmas.

I Want to Be an Airline Pilot

We are hoping to have this book ready for you for Christmas, too (oops, Christmas again!) – the new, larger version, with images at the beginning of every chapter. It will be the perfect gift for your 8-11s, or for family reading, to encourage you all in your walk with God. It’s an excellent book for outreach, too – as Shema learns about ‘Mister God’, readers are learning, too, about the Lord’s love and care for even (especially?) the poor and vulnerable. We have had several technical issues with this one… please pray for this, and all of our projects. It seems that the enemy doesn’t want us to supply you with Christian books for your children. But prayer changes things!

Your Outreach

If you have a group of people who use your church building, why not reach out to them with a book gift? At harvest, perhaps, or Hallowe’en? Groups such as lunch clubs, after school clubs, uniformed organisations, debt advice, food banks… if you give people a book, they can take the message of the good news home to their families (the older generation love A Pennyworth of Peppermints!). Please do get in touch with us for quantity discounts. We’d love to help you realise your dream of sharing the good news with your community in a gentle and non-threatening way.

Year 0033 Book by J. M. Evans

(Retailers – please contact us for extra discount.)

This is a brilliant book to keep your young people thinking about faith, as they make their way into the adult world.

Investing in their faith at this stage of their lives can’t be overestimated, can it? You can make a difference, that will perhaps have eternal consequences.

Christian Bookshops

I know many of you don’t have a Christian bookshop near you, but if you do, don’t forget you can order any of our books from them. Some also have websites and take phone orders. This will be a great blessing to them as well as to you.

Right, I’ve kept you here long enough. May the Lord bless you and keep you. And if there’s anything you need to contact us about, please don’t hesitate to do so.

In Christ,

Janet
