Dear Dernier Friends,
I hope you are keeping well and enjoying the summer – it’s quite chilly in the UK at the moment, but at least everything looks lovely and green, and the days are long and light! Perhaps we’ll get some warmer weather soon… 🙂
Suspicious Deliveries
Suspicious Deliveries is finally with us! If your kids love mystery adventure books, or if you need a fun story for family reading, to bring up interesting topics to discuss from a Christian perspective, this is the book for you!
It’s the sequel to The Treasure Hunt and Mystery in the Snow.
Church kids love these stories, as they have characters just like them. They are also great for non-church kids, as they give a perspective as to what it’s like to be Christian, woven into an exciting story.
So what’s Suspicious Deliveries about?
Debbie, Lance, Joel and Ravi turn detective again, as a new mystery comes their way. They get suspicious when they discover that a young lad is being forced to make secret deliveries. What’s in the locked bags? And why all the secrecy? After praying together about the situation, the friends decide to investigate. Then something terrible happens…
I’ll leave you to buy a copy and find out what’s up with the deliveries!
The book also explores the theme of adoption, as one of the boys reveals he is adopted. A girl from my home church, who is adopted, read the story and said, “This is the best book ever.” She also said, “I related to Ravi as he is adopted, too. His friends reacted just the same way many of mine have, when they found out I was adopted.”
I highly recommend you buy this book for all the children on your heart (8-11-ish), not just those who are adopted. It’s great for children to be able to understand and hear each other, and to develop compassion – and a book is a great way to bring in these ideas.
Plus, every book can be a vital link in a chain of encouragement to faith – and how our children do need so much encouragement, don’t they?
Exams
Exams are nearly over, and the summer holidays are round the corner. Let’s pray for our children, for their safety and wellbeing over the holidays.

And of course we have lots more books! Here are a couple of recent reviews:
Nobody’s Dog, for 6-9s:
My son only read comic books and refused books without pictures on every page (age 8.5). I’ve bought countless books which might have interested him but he found this one on his shelf and read it in three days. He loved it! He has now read another book from this site and I’ve ordered a further two. This book has given my son a love for reading! I also read the book and found the story really sweet and I was encouraged with how it gently mentioned prayer and normalised having a faith. – Louise
Beech Bank Girls (for 10-13s):
Meet the Beech Bank Girls! Each one tells her story and it’s fun to see how their lives interconnect. The girls face their struggles with the help of God and each other. They pray about their problems with temptation, relationships and sickness, but they learn that God sometimes answers in unexpected ways. As Sadie points out at their beloved Beech Bank Club, “Maybe He’ll change the circumstances… And maybe He’ll change you.” – Alex
Right, I won’t keep you any longer. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if we can help you further. If you’re a retailer, or buying quantities for a church, mission or charity, we can offer quantity discounts, and would love to hear from you.
The more books in young hands, the better. And don’t forget, if they don’t like reading, you can always read to them!
Grace and peace to you all in Jesus,
Janet
