What is the Dernier Book Club?
The Dernier Book Club is a one-year-long online membership, with loads of fun activities for you to do with your 8-11 year old children, all based on the Book of the Month, to fuel faith and have fun!
The Aim of the Dernier Book Club
To engage the children on your heart with fun, faith-filled stories, that will encourage and inspire them to walk with Jesus.
We see Christian values crumbling around us.
The things that are filling our young people’s minds are not always helpful (to say the least).
Many of our children are anxious and afraid like never before. They feel hopeless when they look at the state of our planet, and the wars and disasters they hear about on the news.
Where can they turn?
To Jesus, of course, who is the way, the truth and the life!
Giving a Christian book to a child is like taking a child to Jesus.
We pray that as you read the books, over the next twelve months, and share in the activities together, your relationship will not only be deepened with your child, but with the Lord Jesus.
A youth worker said recently, ‘The enemy is stealing our children’s joy.’ We need to fight back.
How does the Dernier Book Club work?
There are two tiers of membership – Full Membership and Mini Membership. Both last for 12 months.
With both tiers of membership, you will receive access to exclusive web pages ‘discovery pack’ with:
- background information about the author and the story
- fun activities for your children to do (based on the book)
- a prayer and a memory verse
- discussion questions
- videos and pdf downloads
- competitions

Full Membership (UK only)
If you join the Full Membership, you will also receive a physical copy of the Book of the Month every month, with free shipping.
The cost for Full Membership is £10/month for 12 months, or a one-off payment of £100.

Mini Membership (Worldwide)
You will have access to all the online activities, competitions, information, discussion questions etc, but you will not receive the book in the post. If you don’t already own the book, you can order it yourself locally, saving on shipping (and carbon footprint) or buy the ebook (saving you extra money!).
The cost for Mini Membership is £5/month for 12 months, or a one-off payment of £50.

I was delighted to find these! I didn’t want preachy books, or Moral Stories, but I did want books that would introduce, or deepen, our young people’s understanding of God, and of His place in their lives, whilst at the same time telling a good strong story.

FAQs
Are there any hidden extra costs? If you choose the Full Membership option, there is no extra cost. You will have access to all the online material, plus you will receive a paperback in the post. Shipping is also included. If you choose the Mini Membership option, you will be directed to the Amazon kindle version of the Book of the Month, where you can buy the book for yourself. That’s why it’s cheaper!
I don’t have a kindle – can I still join the Mini Membership option? Absolutely! You can read the kindle version on any digital device, or you can source most of the paperbacks locally, if you prefer to do that.
When can I join? Any time, but don’t delay – if you leave it, your children will have grown up!
I don’t live in the UK. Can I still join? Absolutely! Instead of receiving the book of the month in the post, you will be directed to buy the book on Amazon’s kindle store, where you can order it and start reading straight away on many digital devices (phone, i-pad, laptop, pc etc). Or you can source the paperback locally.
How long does the Book Club Subscription last? For one year. Whenever you join in the year, you will receive the same 12 books in the same order as everyone else.
What ages are the books for? For readers aged around 8-11. Children vary both in their reading levels, and levels of understanding, so if your children are a bit older, or a bit younger, that’s fine. (Actually, many adults tell us they love the books too!)
Will I know in advance which book I will receive? Not always! That would spoil the surprise. 🙂
Can I buy more books? Of course! As a Book Club Member you will have access to 10% discount off every book you purchase direct from the Dernier Publishing website (UK only). You can also buy the books from your favourite bookshop.
I don’t live in the UK. Can I join? Because of the prohibitively high cost of shipping outside the UK, and issues with customs tariffs, we can only post books to UK addresses, so please join the Mini Membership option.
